June 7, 2009-Riverside, Ca. Lyfestyles Tv, a division of Urban Lyfestyles is proud to announce Mr. Bill Dukes’ film “COVER” as the feature film for the 1st IE Urban Film Festival taking place at the Ontario Mills AMC Theatre June 20th from 2pm – 6pm.
“Cover” is about a murdered on New Year's Eve and the prime suspect is Valerie Maas, a church-going home-maker whose life unravels when she discovers that her husband of 15 years has been leading a double life. Her strength of character and faith keeps the family alive as a deadly disease threatens to destroy all that they have known. “This film was chosen as the main feature because it deals with HIV, the Down Low syndrome and has a powerfully impacted message to all that watches and in particular..the urban community,” states KimiRhochelle, producer of the first urban film festival to occur in the inland empire.
Additional projects gracing the screen include:
Regina Kimbell “My Nappy Roots”, A Journey Through Black Hair-itage, an edutainment documentary, takes an unparalleled look at how black hair is used as a prism through which to look at cultural, societal, and political issues in the African American community over time. The film reveals the significance and pride of African hairstyles prior to the first arrival of enslaved Africans to America, where the broader struggle of Black people began. This cultural and social struggle created the rise of the first great Black entrepreneurs and the billion dollar ethnic hair care industry-that exist today. http://www.myspace.com/MYNAPPYROOTS
