THE 1ST “DIGITAL” FILM FESTIVAL FEATURED BILL DUKES’ “COVER”
June 20th, 2009-Riverside, Ca. Lyfestyles Tv, a division of Urban Lyfestyles produced the 1st Digital Film Festival straight from a computer laptop through Terrance Coles of the Pan Africanist. Featured was Mr. Bill Dukes’ film “COVER” , Regina Kimbell “My Nappy Roots”, Spanky Jackson's Cadillac Dreamz and The Africa Channel.
Not only was history made through digital technology, but also was the 1st IE Urban Film Festival all taking place at the Ontario Mills AMC Theatre.
“Instead of watching the movie screen from a film projector, viewers watched in awe images sent directly from a laptop, states KimiRhochelle, producer of the Urban Film Festival.
Lyfestyles TV used this event to launch its Urban Global Digital Distribution Portal through the PanAfricanist African Diaspora VOD platform presented by Actor Mr. Richard Gant and Mr. Terrence Coles. “Now, producers and film festivals can trans-market their projects throughout the world at film festivals AND allow viewers to download their films digitally without even being present.. this is the first for the industry and we are very excited to be launching here!” states Actor Mr. Gant, owner of the PanAfricanist.
“Mr. Gant and myself have been working on this digital distribution, along with Mr. Terrence Cole for over a year and to now be able to have had it launch at our own film festival is such an honor, states KimiRhochelle.
The Urban Film Festival was part of the 1st Annual Juneteenth Celebrity Tri-Festival Weekend that included a celebrity golf tournament in Upland, a Sickle Cell Casino Night and of course the 1st IE Urban Film Festival at the Ontario Mills AMC Theatre. The goal is to raise awareness about Juneteenth and Sickle Cell as well as to raise funds for the Inland Sickle Cell office located in Riverside.
Stricken by the unforeseen death of the Sickle Cell office manager and co-producer of the Tri-Fest, Mr. Art Booker, the landmark annual event had to quickly maneuver and change locations of the casino night. “The sudden death of my dear friend took me off the scene for at least 2 days before the Tri-Fest, but thanks to so many individuals that rose to the occasion and my faith in God, the events were successful”, states KimiRhochelle. “In fact, many people were somewhat confused as to the new location and wanted to know where to send their donations so we have continued the fundraising campaign until the end of August and people can give a donation by going to www.urbanlyfestyles.com!”
The Urban Film Festival started with the viewing of featured films, followed by discussions and then a private dinner with Mr. Duke and other celebrity friends that came through..thanks to all..kimirhochelle
